Who is Senior Shopper?
Seniors Card and Seniors Business Discount Card holders in Queensland have, since 1999, enjoyed exclusive access to the Senior Shopper discount shopping service. Senior Shopper is an independent telephone shopping service which aims to help cardholders obtain the best price on a range of goods and services for the cost of a local call anywhere in Queensland.
The Queensland Government Seniors Card Program has been operated by the Department of Families since 1990 and now the Department of Communities. The program is a collaboration between government and business which tries to help seniors save money, stay in touch, and enjoy growing older by staying healthy, positive and connected to their communities. If businesses or seniors have any questions about
how to apply for or use a Queensland Government Seniors Card or Seniors Business Discount Card, please phone the Seniors Card Unit on 1800 175 500.
Seniors should also protect themselves as consumers by staying in touch with the Queensland Government Office of Fair Trading. The OFT website (http://www.fairtrading.qld.gov.au) is a great source of up to date information about consumer protection and good business practices.
